When 'Mad Men' Ends, Does TV's Best 'Stealth Feminism' Die, Too?

"It's like, you do a movie about the Civil War, and there's slavery in it—I hope no one thinks that you're advocating slavery." Exactly right, Mr. Weiner... I've never understood complaint about MAD MEN's treatment of women when the obvious commentary is: it was pretty terrible then for working women. Also, smoking is gross.

For seven seasons, Matthew Weiner has devoted himself to creating fascinating, complicated female characters.
