skyscrapers stay up? Or how dams contain all that water? The answers are
in "Building Big," a five-part series starting Tuesday (Oct. 3) on most
PBS stations. Each week, host David Macaulay, author of "The New Way
Things Work," will explore the construction of huge structures. The Web
site offers plenty to budding engineers, such as virtual labs and a
searchable database of the featured buildings and structures, from
Boston's Big Dig to Paris' Eiffel Tower.
